Innovation is Alive and Well in America: Yet Another Davison Invention is Launched into the Market on QVC

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PITTSBURGH, PA. – A new type of bakeware invented by the team from Davison had a great debut on QVC. The Surprise Filled Cupcake Pan made its marketplace debut during the popular “Cooking with David” segment. Like many other new kitchen products created by the company, the innovative bakeware garnered a lot of attention, selling more than 3,000 units in just the first few minutes!

The new pan has posts in the bottom of each tin, so candies and treats can be baked inside cupcakes and muffins, adding a burst of flavor. The concept originated during a brainstorming session in Inventionland. Once the idea was built and tested, Extraordinary Home Products, a division of Focus Products Group, found it to be remarkable, and the corporation is producing an entire line of pans based on the concept. Among the possible spin-offs in the works are a jumbo cupcake pan and mini muffin pan. The product also will be shown at the 2011 International Housewares Show in March.

The Davison team has already had considerable success with new inventions on QVC, the top-ranked home shopping network. Last year alone, the Meatball Baker sold out several times and the Party on the Go had a great showing as a Today’s Special Value. Both products were developed for inventor clients.

“It’s remarkable – here is another idea that will cause a lot of excitement in the cooking industry,” said George Davison, founder and CEO.

“Just when you thought a baking pan could never be innovated, our team reshapes an industry with innovation once again. I’m very proud of our entire team for bringing excitement to bakers everywhere.”

Surprisingly, the inspiration that led to the idea for the pan originated with the old flexible Gumby toys, which were manufactured by pouring the rubber around a post.

“This is another example of twisting an old manufacturing technique into a totally different industry to breathe new innovation into it,” said the VP of Design.

The design engineer tested the sample and made cupcakes with various fillings, including mini peanut butter cups, caramels and cherries; he got delicious results. The design manager on the project was not disappointed when the latest Davison product was launched over the airwaves.

“It was great to see it on QVC, and to see that it did so well,” he said.

Mr. Davison knows who the first customer was: “I think my mom and her ‘grandma girlfriends’ were the first ones to buy pans to make surprise-filled cupcakes for their grandchildren! Families everywhere will now be able to delight their loved ones with cupcakes with candy surprises inside.”

Ideas that were made into products by Davison have sold in stores across the U.S., including Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart, Home Depot, Sears, K-Mart, JC Penney, Jo-Ann Stores, FAO Schwarz, Cabela’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and many more. For more information, go to www.davison.com.
